My name is Mathew Hallam. I live on the Mornington Peninsula with my family and run abbrev8 to provide practical, personalised financial advice to clients locally and across Australia.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked across financial planning, superannuation, investments and international financial markets throughout Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
During that time, I launched the Middle East’s first commodity fund and managed more than US$1.1 billion in assets, gaining experience across complex investments, global markets and diverse economic environments.
Today, I use that experience to help people make informed financial decisions and feel more confident about what comes next.

I’ve always believed that financial knowledge should be accessible. Throughout my career, I’ve presented financial segments on ABC Radio, written market and economic commentary, delivered educational workshops and worked with organisations to make financial concepts easier to understand.
One initiative I’m particularly proud of was developing and delivering the world’s first Women Investing in the Stock Market (WISM) program in partnership with Reuters, helping women build confidence and greater control over their finances.
